Timothy Wahlers, CEO
Tim Wahlers is the owner and founder of Vidiom Systems, Inc., a company specializing in Interactive TV software products and services. As President and CEO, Tim is responsible for corporate management and overall business strategy of the company's product and service offerings. Over the past 6 years, Tim has served as a consultant to CableLabs and Time Warner Cable, assisting in the analysis and development of many OpenCable software documents and specifications including the OpenCable Application Platform (OCAP). Prior to Vidiom Systems, Tim was a founder and executive at OptImage Interactive Systems. He led product design and development teams that positioned OptImage at the forefront of the market for interactive compact disc and interactive television systems. At OptImage, Tim established a reputation for architecting many technically innovative approaches to the unique problems of interactive multimedia authoring and content development. Under Tim's leadership, OptImage was first-to-market with the first CD write-once burner, MPEG1 encoder, CD-i and multimedia set-top emulation, multimedia API, and developer tools. Tim is actively involved in multimedia industry technology and standards discussions and is frequently asked to speak at international forums on multimedia technologies and trends. Tim has been a leader in the multimedia and ITV industries for over 18 years. His work history includes XAOS Tools, Philips/OptImage, and Commonwealth Edison.
Walden Miller, VP Services
Walden Miller is a founding member of Vidiom, and has contributed significantly to the company's success. As VP of Engineering Services, Walden has helped the company build a documentation, testing, and training corps, in addition to personally writing authoring tool manuals, API manuals, training modules, and ITV specifications. Walden is also responsible for project management and application production. Prior to joining Vidiom, Walden was with Philips Media/OptImage, where he managed the technical documentation department, directed multimedia CD productions, and coordinated other engineering services. His technical documents department wrote award-winning documentation for multimedia authoring tools, CD creation tools, and MPEG encoding systems. Walden also spent 5 years with Microware Systems Corporation, where he managed the technical documentation department and wrote operating systems manuals, including low-level driver manuals, tools manuals, API manuals, and porting guides. Walden has worked in the RTOS and ITV industry for 18 years. His work history includes XAOS Tools, Philips/OptImage, and Microware.
Michael Malcy, VP Marketing
Michael Malcy leverages his extensive contacts and experience in consumer, broadcast, and industrial electronics in his role as Vice President of Marketing at Vidiom Systems. Mike oversees the Marketing and Legal groups at Vidiom. He also brings a substantial amount of standards experience to Vidiom having participated in the CableLabs, OpenCable, DOCSIS, and CableHome efforts. He is also a member of SCTE, ATSC, and CEA; the Vice Chairman of the Technical Standards Committee of the Consumer Electronics Association; and a member of the Cable & Telecommunication Association for Marketing. Prior to Vidiom, Michael was Vice President of the Digital Convergence Team at Samsung Electronics Product Innovation Lab, where he managed new product strategy and development for cable, music, and new technologies. Michael spent several years at Sharp Laboratories of America where he was responsible for both the formulation of Sharp's technical position in standards bodies as well as the development of broadband applications with an emphasis on Cable, HDTV, and DSL. Mike has over 20 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Legal and operations. His work history includes Samsung Electronics, Sharp Laboratories of America, Ikegami, and Anton Bauer.
Mark Malinak, VP Business Development and Sales
Mark Malinak is VP of Business Development and Sales for Vidiom Systems. With more than 20 years of experience in sales and business development for advanced technology solutions in the embedded systems and interactive TV software markets, Mark is responsible for driving Vidiom's revenues with both services-led and product-led offerings.
Mark has held executive sales positions in technology start ups and global team and strategic account management positions with Sun Microsystems and Microware Systems targeting MSOs, network operators, wireless carriers, semiconductor and consumer electronics manufacturers through direct and partner channels with vertical market embedded software, applications, and professional services solutions.
Robert Beaver, VP Engineering
As VP of Engineering at Vidiom Systems, Rob Beaver manages Vidiom's engineering division, concentrating on set-top box software and standards for digital TV. A veteran in the embedded systems market, Rob brings extensive experience managing development groups and providing embedded technology and tools to the consumer product space.
Rob plays the critical Lead Engineer role in Vidiom’s OCAP strategy. As such, Rob is responsible for determining the architecture, working directly with our OCAP clients, and managing the day-to-day engineering work devoted to Vidiom’s OCAP project. Prior to Vidiom, Rob was Vice President of Research and Development for SNAP2 Corporation where he oversaw product strategy and development. Previously, Rob spent over 10 years at Microware Systems Corporation, where he held numerous technical and management positions including Managing Director of The Consumer Products Division, Director of Technology, and Director of Development Environments. In these positions at Microware, Rob was responsible for software development practices, technology oversight, technical management, product direction, and development tools targeting the embedded systems market. Rob has over 15 years in the RTOS and ITV industry. His work history includes SNAP2 and Microware Systems Corporation.
David Housman, VP Strategic Initiatives
As Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, David Housman brings 25 years of technology and business development experience to Vidiom. David will be responsible for refining Vidiom’s products and services offerings for the specific needs of the cable industry as well as managing Vidiom’s rapid growth and new business opportunities. David spent 10 years with Charter Communications providing strategic guidance over new business opportunities as well as executive sponsorship and oversight for the development and deployment of Charter’s high-speed data services and advanced set-top boxes including DVRs. He also served as Charter’s chief negotiator, along with representatives from other major cable operators and the NCTA, for set-top box and conditional access agreements in Washington, DC and participated on numerous CableLabs board committees including DOCSIS and Open Cable Certification.
Jeff Berenson, VP Integration & Deployment
Jeff Berenson is Vidiom’s Vice President of Integration and Deployment. Jeff is responsible for managing a group that is focused on the integration, testing, and deployment demands of the emerging OCAP, MHP, and IPTV markets. Over the last 26 years, Jeff has been involved with managing the testing, integration, and deployment of interactive services for domestic and international cable, satellite, and telecom operators.
Jeff’s career has encompassed working for many of the industry’s leading innovators including Digital Equipment Corporation, Dialogic, Spyglass and OpenTV. He built and managed a professional services and training business for Computer Telephony Integration, then later ran OpenTV’s systems integration business for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa from Paris, France. Upon returning to the U.S., Jeff consulted with both venture capitalists and vendors in the iTV market, and led the North American video practice.
